Currently re-watching my favourite Naruto episodes and one of my favourite ARC’s is the Pain arc, wich inspired me to throw my thoughts out.
Using a great force to control humanity and maintain peace. But the weapon has to be used in the first place to create the control by ultimate fear and the suffering it will bring with it’s attack result. Humans will always fight; thinking noone would dare to use such a powerful weapon. They think them safe.
The question is: How strong must the destructive power be to gain control over the world with it? Even nuclear bombs (for ex. Hiroshima) wiping out whole cities, areas and killing millions of people, weren’t enough to stop wars from keep happening. What is needed to unite humanity?
Re-watching Naruto always throws me back into a loop with these questions and just how relatable it is outside of the world of the manga and with our world and it’s constant conflicts and suffering.
Why do humans claim to be the superior and smart race, yet, most of what they do is destroy nature and other peoples lifes? Of course there are exceptions. Lots of inventions that came to life throughout the centuries that contributed towards the living standards our world is enjoying these days. But so many things that were great at first, have been immediatly researched if they had any possible value to weaponize them. Science is meant to enrich and help peoples lives and not to be misued to conquer and kill.
Naruto os one of thoose precious series that really got me (and probably countless others) thinking beyond what’s going on on the screen and paper alone. The real world is a grim place with plenty of hatred. Race, Religion, sex and sexual orientation, different opinions… Each of thoose have brought forth death and destruction and it hasn’t ever changed.
Despite humanities boast of intelligence, nothing significant changed concerning these matters of conflict. Sure, some things got slightly better, but it is still very far off from being resolved. Quite the opposite. In some areas it has only gotten worse. Especially when we look at the problems Religion is carrying and how narrow minded humans can be.
Humanity is on a steep path downwards towards it’s own annhilitation and the world lacks the amount of couragous and determined revolutionaries to work against it. The future of this planet looks pretty bleak. In the end, I doubt humanity would ever come together as one, helping each other despite race, sex and different religions to end wars and world hunger.
Maybe an Alien Invasion or a giant Meteor could change that…
But… I still hope somewhere in my heart that a day could happen that might change the world for the better. Just like my favourite ero-sennin said:
„Even I can tell that hatred is spreading. I wanted to do something about it… but I don’t know what… but I believe… that someday the day will come when people truly understand one another.“ – Jiraiya, (Naruto)
